Erla Þórarinsdóttir
Erla Þórarinsdóttir was born in Reykjavík in 1955. She grew up in Iceland, Denmark and Sweden. Erla studied at the Konstfack University of Art and Design in Stockholm between 1976 and 1981, with a visit to the Gerrit Rietweld Akademie as a visiting student for one semester in 1981. She began her career in Stockholm where she worked in art, design and gallery management. The path then led to New York where she lived for a little over a year, but in 1985 she moved to Iceland and has been based there ever since. board of the Nordic Art Association in the years 1993 – 1995. At that time they worked on the association's 50th anniversary and hosted an exhibition called "Wells" which was shown in the Nordic House.
In 2002, Erla was nominated for the DV Culture Award for art.
