Jon Laxdal

12 Nov - 03 Dec 2022

Jón Laxdal's path to art was through poetry and philosophy, which he focused on in the 1970s. However, he soon found that he was in common with those who wanted to break down the walls between language and art, and between interpretation and creation. As a poet, he saw that if he took the word "fly" and spread the letters around the page, it created a picture of flies. Image and meaning, words and reality, began to disappear one after the other and call for repeated interpretation. Instead of a certain outcome, there was a creative uncertainty.
